What WinterCover™ Is For
Protecting soil during fallow and winter periods
Improving soil structure and reducing compaction
Capturing and recycling nutrients between crops
Increasing organic matter and microbial activity
Suppressing weeds and preventing erosion
When to Plant
Plant in late summer through fall, after harvest or whenever soil would otherwise be left bare. Timing may vary by climate.
Seeding Rate
½–1 lb per 1,000 sq ft
Broadcast evenly and lightly rake or incorporate for good seed-to-soil contact (¼ inch depth is sufficient).
Maintenance
Water after planting if rainfall is not expected. Once established, WinterCover™ requires minimal care.
Termination
Terminate in spring or before planting by mowing or cutting before flowering. Residue can be left on the surface or lightly incorporated, depending on your system.
Compatibility
Suitable for garden beds, raised beds, and in-ground use
Works well in no-till and low-till systems
Designed to complement APSU Soil living soil practices
Notes
Not intended for harvest
Allow plant residue time to break down before planting
Results improve with repeated seasonal use
