ForestFloor™

ForestFloor™ is built to mirror the rich, humus-heavy soils found on tropical forest floors. It’s designed for houseplants, aroids, and epiphytes that thrive in warm, humid environments where roots need steady moisture, good airflow, and long-term nutrition.

Rather than relying on quick fertilizers or lightweight fillers, ForestFloor™ is engineered using our Biome Replication Technology™ — a process that studies how real forest soils function and rebuilds those systems in a reusable potting mix. When soil structure, organic matter, and minerals are balanced from the start, plants are able to grow steadily without constant correction.

This blend stays loose and breathable while holding moisture evenly. Compost and leaf mold provide the organic backbone and support healthy microbial life. Coco coir helps maintain consistent hydration, while fine bark improves structure and airflow around the roots. Worm castings supply gentle, slow-release fertility, biochar helps retain nutrients in the soil, and rock phosphate supports strong root development and flowering. Dolomite lime helps keep pH stable so nutrients remain available over time.

ForestFloor™ is well suited for foliage plants and tropical species including monsteras, philodendrons, ficus, orchids, bromeliads, palms, and many fast-growing herbs. It performs reliably in containers, indoor plantings, and warm-climate outdoor beds without compacting or breaking down.

To make things easier, we also offer a ForestFloor™ Plant Guide with simple adjustment notes for specific plant types. Built to behave like real rainforest soil, ForestFloor™ provides the balance of moisture, airflow, and fertility tropical plants need to grow steadily and stay healthy.

Rainforest and woodland plants thrive in soils rich in humus, bark, and decomposed organic matter. ForestFloor™ captures that environment in a balanced blend of compost, coco coir, fine bark, peat moss, worm castings, and biochar. With a diverse structure, it holds moisture like a rainforest floor while allowing airflow and microbial activity to flourish.

Perfect for ferns, philodendrons, tropical trees, and shade-loving woodland plants, ForestFloor™ brings the richness of the jungle and forest floor into your pots and gardens.

Why ForestFloor™ Works:

  • Humus-Rich Base – Compost, peat, and coir mimic decomposed rainforest matter.

  • Bark Structure – Fine bark keeps the mix airy for roots and epiphytes.

  • Moisture Retention – Holds steady moisture while draining freely.

  • Microbial Activity – Worm castings and biochar boost the living soil food web.

  • Natural Habitat Replication – Designed to recreate tropical rainforest and woodland soils.

ForestFloor™ is a ready-to-use tropical potting soil made from a balanced blend of compost, leaf mold, coco coir, fine bark, worm castings, biochar, rock phosphate, and dolomite lime. It’s mixed in small batches using our Biome Replication Technology™ (patent pending) to ensure consistent structure, moisture balance, and long-term performance.

Each batch is blended to stay loose and breathable while holding moisture evenly. The soil is screened and mixed to maintain texture without dust or fillers, making it easy to work with straight out of the bag.

We study how soil works in the real world. That means collecting live samples from natural environments, testing them in the lab, and paying close attention to how structure, water, nutrients, and biology interact over time.

We combine hands-on fieldwork, extensive lab testing, open-source research, and APSU’s proprietary tools to turn those observations into reliable potting mixes. Each blend is built to stay structurally sound, hold nutrients through exchange rather than leaching, and support living biology long after planting. The result is a reusable soil system that performs consistently in containers, gardens, and habitats—so growers spend less time correcting problems and more time growing.
