What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to purity and sustainability. We nurture our soils with care, free from synthetic chemicals or harmful additives because we believe that what you put into the earth eventually nourishes us all. Each bag of soil we provide is a testament to our dedication to preserving the Earth's vitality for generations to come.
About Us
For most of human history, we grew our own food and medicines. Grocery stores, packaged produce, and industrial agriculture are all relatively recent inventions, less than a century old. Before that, soil was free, food was local, and growing was intuitive. Today, we are being sold back the very things nature already provides: water, nutrients, biology, and even the soil itself.
Modern growing systems have created dependence. They sell sterile substrates devoid of life, then sell bottle after bottle of fertilizer to compensate. Plants eat, the nutrients wash out the bottom, and we repeat the cycle—spending more money and generating more waste while degrading the earth in the process. The industry profits.
APSU Soil exists to break that cycle.
We engineer biome-inspired living soils that function as complete ecosystems, built to retain nutrients, support microbial life, and keep everything cycling within the soil instead of washing away. When soil is constructed correctly—when structure, biology, moisture, and CEC are balanced—the plant’s roots fill the pot before nutrients are depleted, eliminating runoff and reducing fertilizer needs dramatically. No runoff means no waste, stronger plants, and a cleaner planet. Our mission is to return growers to nature’s original blueprint and restore biological autonomy to soil.
APSU Soil is driven by a team of veterans, experienced gardeners, scientists, tradespeople, neurodiverse innovators, and creatives who share a passion for rebuilding both soil and community. We seek people with unique perspectives and strengths. Service is core to our identity, and our work extends beyond soil production.
We support community initiatives including Gardens for Veterans, Housing for Veterans, Homeless Garden Programs, children’s agricultural education, food donation programs, and charitable soil donations for organizations creating change. We believe healthy soil grows healthy food, and healthy food grows healthy communities. When we succeed, everyone grows with us.
Through our Patent Pending Biome Replication Technology™, we study soil samples from environments around the world and engineer blends that replicate their structural, mineral, and microbial function. Our soil family reflects the five base biomes plants evolved to thrive in—ForestFloor™ for tropicals and houseplants, CactusJacked™ for desert plants, LivingSoil™ for vegetables and everyday gardening, KillerSoil™ for carnivorous plants, and SuperSoil™ for heavy feeders and water-only cultivation. With companion solutions like SuperCharge™, TurboCharge™, RiseUp™, DropAcid™, ReNew™, and WinterCover™, growers can rebuild and reuse soil instead of buying new bags every cycle.
Grow once. Reuse forever.
FAQ’s
What makes APSU Soil different?
APSU Soil is the world’s first company to recreate real biomes as living soil systems. Each blend begins with samples taken from natural ecosystems around the globe — rainforests, deserts, bogs, and forest floors — then rebuilt through laboratory analysis and field testing. We combine modern soil science with the balance of nature to engineer soils that behave like the real thing. No gimmicks, no guesswork, just living systems you can trust.
Do your soils contain synthetic fertilizers or chemicals?
No. APSU Soil products are 100% organic and biologically active. We use natural nutrient sources such as compost, kelp, and mineral rock dusts to create long-lasting fertility through microbial life, not synthetic salts or chemical feeds.
Are your soils ready to use right out of the bag?
Yes. Every APSU blend is fully balanced, aged, and biologically mature before packaging. There’s no “cooking” or prep time required — just open, moisten, and plant. From delicate carnivorous plants to heavy-feeding crops, our soils are ready when you are.
What are your main soil types?
LivingSoil™ – A versatile, balanced blend for everyday growing — ideal for houseplants, herbs, flowers, and vegetables.
SuperSoil™ – A complete, water-only system for high-demand plants and heavy feeders.
ForestFloor™ – Recreates tropical rainforest and woodland conditions for aroids, ferns, mushrooms, and moisture-loving ornamentals.
Cactus Jacked™ – A fast-draining, mineral-rich desert mix for cacti, succulents, and arid species.
KillerSoil™ – A specialized bog ecosystem mix for carnivorous plants like Nepenthes, sundews, and Venus flytraps.
Terrarium Soils – We can’t forget our Reptile friends, Naturalistic biome substrates for terrariums and vivariums — designed for humidity control, drainage, and bioactivity.
Can I reuse APSU Soil?
Yes. Our soils are designed to regenerate, not expire. By adding SuperCharge™ or ReNew™, you can recharge nutrients and microbial activity for the next cycle. Over time, your soil becomes even more alive, just like natural earth systems.
What does “biome-inspired” mean?
Each APSU Soil product is modeled after the exact environmental conditions of real habitats. We collect soil samples from around the world, study their composition through laboratory analysis, and replicate them using organic, sustainable ingredients. It’s a precise blend of science and nature — a process no other company offers at this scale.
Can I use APSU Soil indoors?
Absolutely. LivingSoil™, ForestFloor™, and SuperSoil™ are ideal for houseplants, indoor gardens, and greenhouses. They’re clean, odor-free, and biologically stable — perfect for creating thriving indoor ecosystems.
Can I mix APSU Soil with my existing soil?
Yes. Our blends make excellent conditioners and microbial boosters. Mixing even small amounts into garden beds or potting mixes improves structure, nutrient availability, and biological health.
Do you offer bulk or wholesale options?
Yes. APSU Soil partners with retailers, nurseries, and hydro stores across the U.S. and beyond. For wholesale or distribution inquiries, contact call (202) 391-1020.
Where are your soils made?
All APSU Soil products are blended and finished in the United States using locally sourced materials. We take inspiration from soils around the world but make them accessible to everyone, everywhere.
Why the name APSU?
In ancient mythology, APSU represented the primal freshwater beneath the earth — the source of all life. It’s a fitting symbol for our mission: to bring soil back to life through knowledge, science, and respect for the natural world. Its also short for Appellation Supply, our original name.
What’s your philosophy?
Healthy soil equals healthy life. APSU Soil exists to reconnect growers with the living foundation beneath their plants. We let nature lead, science guide, and results speak.
